Cycle 2009

Following on from the very successful IHCPT cycles which have been running since 1984, HCPT have decided to offer this event to our supporters in 2009.
 
Dates:
Friday 3rd April 2009. Overnight 20:45 sailing from Portsmouth.
Saturday 4th April Start of cycle at Saint Malo ferry port.
Finishing Good Friday 10th April 2009.
Return home Sunday 12th April 2009, if not staying on for the Pilgrimage in your own group.

Requirements for participants:
Prospective participants in Cycle 2009 must agree to the following.
  • To train to a level of fitness that will make it possible to cycle up to 100 per day.
  • To provide their own bike (road bike) and cycle wear.
  • To wear a helmet when ever cycling with HCPT.
  • You pay a fare of £400. This covers all your travel arrangements, food and accommodation in 2* - 3* hotels during the cycle. Deposit of £100 must be received with your application form. Balance of £300 will be due by 31st January 2009. (Withdrawal may result in the loss of your deposit of £100.)
    (A further £200 will be payable if you wish to stay on in Lourdes for the Easter Pilgrimage.)
  • You also agree to try and fundraise a minimum of £2,000 for HCPT central funds.
 
Support:
You will have to worry about nothing. There will be a Support Crew who will look after catering, medical, maintenance and baggage. There will be Signs to guide you along the route, as well as a route map of each day’s cycle. Each vehicle will carry a supply of drinks and snacks. Varied Lunches will be provided on the road side each afternoon.
 
 
Possible Route:
  • Day One: Saint Malo to Rennes. Approx 50 miles
  • Day Two: Rennes to Nantes. Approx 70 miles
  • Day Three: Nantes to La Rochelle Approx 100 miles
  • Day Four: La Rochelle to Royan Approx 60 miles
  • Day Five: Royan to Bordeaux Approx 80 miles
  • Day Six: Bordeaux to Mont de Marson Approx 95 miles
  • Day Seven: Mont de Marson to Lourdes. Approx 75 miles
 
 
Places on the cycle will be allocated on a first come first served basis on receipt of a completed application form and a £100 deposit. There will be limited number of places on the cycle, so to avoid disappointment apply early!
