The Bartrès Villa provides an excellent base for a trip to Lourdes both as an ideal centre for pilgrims or even as a base to explore the area as a holidaymaker. The villa provides first class well equipped accommodation in beautiful surroundings, at very reasonable costs, and I would recommend it to anyone.
The Bartrès Villa is a self catering property in the village of Bartrès near Lourdes, Pau and Gavarnie in the Haute Pyrenees department of southern France. The Villa is an ideal rental property for families or small groups who wish to explore the Pyrenees at any time of year.
Fully accessible throughout this unique property can accommodate up to 18 people, has space for 4 cars, a large managed garden and all the facilities you would expect.
The Bartrès Villa belongs to HCPT - The Pilgrimage Trust. The Villa is situated in the village of Bartrès, which is 4 kilometres from Lourdes. It was in this village that Saint Bernadette spent much time with her relatives and helped on the farm. The house is about 1 kilometre from the centre of the village. It is close to the international shrine at Lourdes, about two hours drive from coastal resorts such as Biarritz and St Jean de Luz and a 1.5 hours from the mountain village of Gavarnie. It is less than a mile from Hosanna House, HCPT's holiday home for children and adults with disabilities.
The Villa is built in a style typical of the region, with a sloping roof, balcony, shuttered windows, a large garden and stunning views to the mountains.
On the Ground floor there is 1 large reception/dining room, large balcony, kitchen, 2 bedrooms (2 beds each), bathroom with toilet (all wheelchair accessible) and separate toilet.
On the top floor there are three bedrooms (one with 4 beds and two with 3 beds), 2 shower rooms & a separate toilet. At the moment, no rooms on this floor are wheelchair accessible.
In the basement there is a utility room with a washing machine and tumble drier, iron and ironing board, games room, quiet room, 2 ensuite rooms (one two bedded and the other three bedded) all of which have large windows with views of the Pyrénées, 1 separate toilet and 1 separate shower room. At the moment, access to rooms by wheelchair from the ground floor is possible by an outside path.
You will need transport to shop or visit the local area when you are staying at the Villa.
Out of season (from the end of October to Easter week) transport, including minibuses adapted for wheelchairs, can be hired from Hosanna House.
During the season (Easter to the end of October) we recommend that you hire your own transport. We recommend Europcar for vehicle hire.
There is space at the Villa to park about 4 cars.
